Emergency Moveout Donations
Back in 2023 I moved countries to my wife's home country of Italy. We also noted that my In-laws were struggling post covid - they were getting food every month from their church, mainly living on plain pasta, and we'd even had to help my sister in law with gifts of money a few times for school because they couldn't afford it. It seemed like a win to move in, yknow? We can help them and then get our life straight in a new country, then maybe buy a house etc. You've all got to mostly follow me for what followed; two sick kitties who later passed and a whirlwind of family drama. Here are the highlights but TL;DR My In-laws are abusive and we need out ASAP: • We spent 400 a week in groceries to feed everyone, barely got to eat said food, then yelled at for not giving more money to bills
• When we started splitting our food, not only would they take our food even going so far as rifling through our things in our 'room' they started a screaming match around it because we did so
• We've been repeatedly criticized for anything we bought (rice cooker, air purifiers for my wife to BREATHE, cat trees so our cats have some enrichment)
• We've been berated for SHOWERING TOO MUCH. (Once a day is too much for them, even every other day is too much)
• We pay half the bills and yet, even with proving to them that the bills have not increased more than double with us here, they consistently try to milk us for more and threaten to sell the house/cut off the utilities we need to work
• We've been berated for not being two grown adults who wanted to pile into a 2x2 meter room with my SIL and instead needed a space to work and exist. (They also wanted all of our cats to be in that room as well)
• We've been criticized and verbally abused for spending money on our dying cats and not just putting them down at the first sign of illness (while they did nothing for their cat aside from let her suffer slowly and die)
• We've had savings (1.4k) that was spent on covering house expenses/food when they decided it was a good idea to invite someone they couldn't afford to invite to stay for almost a month.
• We currently work, eat, sleep in a 2x3 meter room that also has the failing water heater and all the house heating controls in it which also means we don't get the full space to work with nor do we get much privacy (we squeeze on a single bed together lol and, before, we were sleeping on patio cushions on the floor)
• We've been beaten down for even existing in this house so much that we've resorted to washing dishes in the bathroom sink and cooking in our rice cooker
• They have no concern for my wife's heart condition and will scream at her that she's 'an adult' if she remotely asks them for say a ride somewhere, but then when she has passed out at the store or even getting her blood drawn for tests and thus rushed to the ER, they spend a few weeks berating her for not thinking about her health and would full on REFUSE to let her go out without the car. But then suddenly in a few weeks, back to yelling at her for being driven places/not having her Italian license etc
• Made us pay for a car rental and hotel when my SIL needed to be driven across the country repeatedly for work at a hotel during the winter.
• We've gotten yelled at for attempting to fix the exploding walls and mold issues in this house so we live in a room where the walls are exploding on usThis is just some of what's happened. Without this being pages long, we've even covered some failures in the house, loaned money etc but repeatedly get treated like we're the literal scum of the earth. We do not get treated like this is our home but rather we were some person they allowed off the street for a few days and we've overstayed our welcome. It doesn't matter that we help them, have tried to organize and clean their house because my MIL can barely go up and down the stairs and my FIL can't even manage to cut the bushes by himself. We're taking over their house and he wants us out. He goes from being totally fine with something one day and then gets stressed out over some money issue and then suddenly, you're everything that is wrong in his life. He did the same to my sister in laws boyfriend who stayed with us for a few months by getting stressed over the transmission in the car going out and trying to blame that on the boyfriend and not his awful driving. He blew up in a huge way, only for the mechanic to tell him that no, he was actually the problem here. It didn't help but it was satisfying at least to have someone else tell him....The most recent blow up happened because we were trying to clean out my BIL's old room (he's been in Thailand for years and is not coming back any time soon.) since the heatwave has had this room IMPOSSIBLY hot. The room we live in is consistently more than 10 degrees Celsius hotter than the rest of the house. My MIL had signed off on it because she wanted us to not die in the heat. We thought it sounded great because we could clean up that room that my FIL had turned into an absolute dump in the last year, reorganize some stuff and have a proper place to sleep, clean the mold, maybe work on fixing the exploding walls, and a have proper place to work since I did not have a desk. We were going to make sure that everything had a home NEATLY but we were sort of in an in between period waiting for someone to help us take apart this massive wardrobe that needed to come out of that room. We'd just dropped 1.5k+ on furniture, paint, mold cleaning tools etc to fix some of the problems in this house.Welp, being stressed about the car breaking down and having to put another 1k into it (3k in total in a short time) he decided that we've made his house a mess for 3 years and his poor princess (my SIL) had so much stuff in her room that she couldn't move around comfortably. (Her boyfriend's stuff and exercise equipment that was in there when we first got here but ofc in his mind, that was our stuff/our fault lol) This time, it didn't just involve words either. It became physical. He grabbed my wife from behind, trying to jerk her around even as she tried to squirm away from him, and then slammed her into the open front door. He proceeded to grab her head and force her to stay pressed against the door while he screamed in her face. She ended up having red welts along her collarbone from where he grabbed her and a very tender bruise/bump on her head from where she hit the door. She left the house for a few minutes to calm down so she didn't make any rash decisions. When she left, because I don't speak Italian fluently yet, I just asked him what he'd said to her..well let's just say I didn't very much like or agree with what he said but I was still trying to be calm and explain, it became a shouting match as well and he grabbed me and shook me. At the end of it all, he said he wants us and our cats out right now. The only thing he hasn't done is take our things and throw them outside though I do not put that past him nor do I put it past the next blow up will be even worse. My MIL wants us to stay because she thinks he's being dramatic and he's just depressed but he's abusive, wants no one in his space (AKA the whole house), and he hates seeing anyone's things (including his wife's things). He wants to just toss everything behind a door (including all of us) and not have to see us. We can't live like this. I don't 100% think I can trust this man not to become more violent or do something drastic...and if we do full on get kicked out at a minute's notice it's not so easy in Italy to deal with that especially with our cats.TL;DR part 2 my FIL is verbally, mentally and physically abusive so we need to leave before things escalate or we are full on kicked out.Apartments are limited and hard to get into in our area, also, they require 4-6months of rent upfront for deposits, fees, first month/last month. We obviously don't have that as it is tax season and we just dropped money on non-refundable things to help get this house into shape, and it has been hard to otherwise save between my in-laws meltdowns and pet illnesses. We have SOME of what we'd need for the average apartment here, if we can land one, but we're still missing a good bit + we need the money to get utilities set up. We've attempted to request a small loan to help and are waiting to hear back but, as we have some appointments to view a few apartments, we've decided to open up for donations to maybe help out.Currently, the estimate for getting into the apartment we're looking at tomorrow will be 3.9k without any utilities etc. Since we're not in a place to take commissions for this right now, and I truly do not want to take more work than we can reasonably do quickly just to get out. If you'd like to donate, you can do so at my kofi here: https://ko-fi.com/wolframkyoAny donation above 10 euro will be entered for a raffle for a piece of artwork of your choice (within reason. No more than 3 characters for example) if we manage to achieve the goal/get into an apartment. Any donations received will immediately get transferred to a moving fund where it will stay until we've located an apartment.Additionally, my dear friend Kamlocke will be posting up some adoptables HERE to help out as well, so if you are linked to this page by them, that is most likely why!You can offer on any of my adoptables and I will consider, but I can not promise I'll sell or be able to sell depending on how I came by them / resell rules / my own attachment. You can find this info on my toyhou.se linked off to the left hand side.I do have some YCHs left open that I'm comfortable selling to help. You can find those here: https://toyhou.se/~bulletins/3489982.discounted-ychs-warmup-slotThank you for reading this if you've stuck through this with me so far!
